Effective communication is essential in providing students, teachers, parents and the community with the necessary information to make appropriate decisions. Baringa State Primary School is committed to using communication processes and techniques that aim to build a positive social learning environment. The ability for our school community to communicate clearly in a wide range of settings and using diverse media is vital for today’s world. Community building is the responsibility of all members of our community therefore, it is essential that all members consider and incorporate the school values and protocols when communicating information.

Currently at Baringa we utilise the following communication platforms:

  • Facebook
  • Newsletter
  • Seesaw
  • Parent Meetings in person and via phone
  • Emails
Below is a summary of important information from our School Communication Policy relevant to parents.

  • Classroom teachers will share key information on upcoming events, student successes and classroom relevant news when appropriate and through chosen mediums, at their discretion
  • Classroom teachers will reply to your email and/or Seesaw messages within 48 hours of the email/ message being sent. Up to 72 hours after 3:00pm on a Friday, or on the weekend. Teachers are not required to reply to messages after hours or read or respond to messages during instruction time (9:00am – 3:00pm). Teachers may respond during these times if not engaged in face to face learning, meeting or planning time. Any important or sensitive communication must be via Administration not via Seesaw
  • Emails/ Seesaw messages sent during vacation periods generally will not be answered until the return of school the following term
  • Schools are also workplaces and therefore access to teaching staff for pre-arranged appointments is generally 8:00am-8:45 and 3:15-4:00pm. Contact can be made via the Administration, then teaching staff will contact the parent to organise a suitable meeting time, so lesson preparation and teaching are not disrupted
  • Outside phone calls will not be forwarded to classroom teachers as this disrupts student learning. Internal school processes are in place to manage such calls.
